Split Table

Split Table

Perceptual ambiguity was the driving force behind this table’s design. The surface is viewed at eye level, with a split in the middle of it, supported by long, tapering legs that end in almost a point. The appearance of instability is countered by the structural integrity of the piece itself. Plays on surface and structure appear throughout, with wood struts showing through as metal plugs, and wood structural supports veneered in aluminum on 2 faces. 5’H, 24″W, made of whitewashed solid maple and brushed aluminum.
